Manuel Luna García

Permanent Lecturer in Organization Engineering at the University of Oviedo, where I direct the Specialist Degree in Data Science for Insurance. My work combines Artificial Intelligence, operational optimization and strategic management to support smarter, data-driven decisions in industry and society, often applied to Blue Economy industries.

My research focuses on two areas: (1) Operational decision-making, applying machine learning, predictive and prescriptive analytics, and reinforcement learning for planning and production management; and (2) Economic and financial analysis of digital and sustainable transformation, studying how organizations create value, manage risks and adapt to innovation.

I have published in leading international journals (18 JCR papers; 10 Q1), participated in major EU and national projects (e.g., H2020 MedAID, SPUR), and currently lead the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Module “Future EU Digital Leaders”. I also collaborate with companies and nonprofits to bring new technologies into real business and decision processes.

Currently, I supervise PhD research in Business Intelligence and Operations Research and teach across bachelor’s and master’s programs.
